First Day of Gymnastics: Much of the introductory-level class sessions will focuses on developing strength and flexibility, as well as good listening skills. While some students may try to launch themselves into the air during that first class, the coach’s goal is to teach kids the fundamentals, develop basic skills and have fun, so they will fall in love with gymnastics. Classes start with a warm-up that includes both static stretches and dynamic exercises. Warm-ups are generally a set routine so that eventually students can take turns leading the warm-ups. After warm-ups the class typically moves to instruction of that days lesson plan. You can expect skills such as rolls, handstands, bridges, cartwheels, as well as leaps and jumps, are just some of the skills that may be covered.
